Leighton Meester got stuck into character last Thursday as she filmed scenes for her upcoming comedy drama series Good Cop/Bad Cop on the Gold Coast.

The American star, 38, was spotted in between takes of the new Stan series with her co-stars Clancy Brown and Luke Cook.

Leighton wore black pants, a patterned shirt, a long denim jacket and brown boots as she visited a crime scene.

She carried a police badge as she filmed scenes with Luke, who plays her detective brother.

The Gossip Girl star tied her brunette locks back and chatted to cast members at one point as she took a break from filming.

The eight-part Stan series has been created by Will & Grace writer John Quaintance.

The procedural comedic drama follows Lou (Leighton) and Henry (Luke), a sibling detective duo who work in a small Pacific Northwest police force. 

They are forced to contend with ​colourful residents, a lack of resources, and a complex family dynamic with their police chief Big Hank (Clancy), who is also their father.
